I am currently a student at Teachers College, Columbia University working towards my M.A. in Literacy Instruction. I have a 3.8 GPA. I have a B.A. in Psychology/ Dual Certification in General and Special Education for grades 1-6 from Marist College. I graduated Marist College in 2013 in the top ten percent of my class and was Summa Cum Laude.
Experience
Through my coursework at Columbia University and Marist College, as well as through private tutoring, I have had various tutoring experiences. I have provided students with research-based interventions driven by data from a battery of authentic assessments and students’ needs. In addition, I have worked as a special education teacher in an integrated setting. In all of my experiences, I have worked with students in both the general education and special education populations. I have serviced students on the Autism spectrum, with learning disabilities including Dyslexia, with ADHD and other disabilities. I am trained in Orton Gillingham approaches, including the Wilson Reading System, as well as other multi-sensory instructional approaches. For all students, I strongly believe that small group and/ or individualized instruction is a key element to obtaining success. Tutoring allows me to differentiate my instruction to meet the specific and individualized needs of the child at hand. My love for teaching and learning is what motivates me to tutor; nothing is more rewarding to me than watching a struggling student finally grasp a concept and feel proud in doing so.

I enjoy scrapbooking, traveling, and reading. I love going to the beach and trying new restaurants. My love for learning transfers to all things I do... I am always asking questions and wanting to learn more and grow in any way I can! I love working with children and seeing their growth first-hand.
